Agent skills

# From “help me with dre” to a delivered report.

DRE is plain YAML and SQL files, and every command except `dre init` runs without prompts, so a coding agent can drive it. DRE’s skills turn your agent into a guide that takes you from installing DRE to a file in an inbox.

How the guide behaves

## A careful pair of hands

The skills are built around a few rules, so you stay in control of what gets built and what gets sent.

- Asks one question at a time, each with a recommended answer and the reason for it
- Looks things up instead of asking you, wherever it can
- Gives advice from one reviewed practices file, citing the rule so you can read the reasoning
- Confirms before anything hard to undo, like a real delivery
- Never asks for, repeats or stores a password, token or key

`dre`

Works out where you are (DRE installed? a project? profiles?) and hands off to the right skill. Start here: “help me with dre”.

`dre-install`

Installs DRE on macOS, Linux or Windows, and fixes PATH and Python problems.

`dre-setup`

Installs the source plugin, writes the connection profile with a safe sign-in, creates a starter project and validates it.

`dre-report`

Designs and writes a report around your goal: SQL, tabs, variables, format and destinations. Also changes existing reports.

`dre-run`

Validates, previews, runs and delivers, confirming before production runs and real deliveries, and explains failures.

`dre-upgrade`

Checks for updates to DRE and to the skills, and applies the ones you choose.

Install

## Add the skills, then ask

Install once. The install channels serve the newest skills _release_, never unreleased work.

### Claude Code

terminal

```
claude plugin marketplace add get-dre/dre
claude plugin install dre@dre
```

### Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and others

terminal

```
npx skills add get-dre/dre#skills-latest
```

Any agent that reads [Agent Skills](https://agentskills.io) works. The installer asks which agents to install for. Then ask your agent: “help me with dre”, “install dre”, or “add a Slack destination to my monthly report”.
