# Lookup config reference | DRE

> Every key of a lookup's config file: the columns, types and loading options of a mapping table kept as a file in your DRE project.

You're reading the docs for DRE 0.10 (v0.10.0). [This page for 0.11](https://getdre.com/docs/reference-lookups/)

# Lookup config reference

The optional config of a lookup, `lookups/<name>.yml` next to a csv, xlsx, xls, json or jsonl file. (A `.yml` lookup that holds the rows themselves can also set `rows`.)

Where: `lookups/<name>.yml`, next to the lookup’s data file.

For editor autocomplete and validation, add this as the first line of the file ([editor setup](https://getdre.com/docs/v0.10/editor-setup/)):

```yaml
# yaml-language-server: $schema=https://getdre.com/schemas/v0.10/lookup.schema.json
```

For copyable examples and common errors, see [Lookups](https://getdre.com/docs/v0.10/lookups/). The [glossary](https://getdre.com/docs/v0.10/glossary/) defines DRE’s terms.

## Keys

Key

Type

Default

Description

`load`

`auto` or `inline` or `temp_table`

`auto`

How the lookup reaches the database: inlined into the SQL, loaded into a temp table, or chosen by size (`auto`).

`rows`

list of map
